The way in which we perceive the world in itself is a gift, but being able to voice your perspective and share that with the world is another. We never recognize how much of an impact the words we say play in another person's life. I am often inspired by the phrase, "Dare to Believe." To me, this phrase challenges you to believe in something different, but also recognize the strength of your beliefs. When you take the time to look at life from a different point of view it allows you to look deeper into what your belief is and strengthen your faith. By challenging your ideals and understandings, you begin to recognize how much more we, as individuals, have to offer. This is not a phrase that is to get others to believe in your ideals, but it is a time of self-reflection. It is about being vulnerable and taking a chance to give life a meaning that will last. Kade and I met four years ago when he pulled up to Augustana ready to begin his freshman year of college. Since then, we have continued to challenge one another and build a bond of brotherhood through faith, laughter, and encouragement. Last week, as we engaged in one of our weekly discussions, we began to discuss the power words have in our life and the influences they continue to make as we grow and prepare for new chapters and opportunities to arise. Kade is not just a friend to me, but a brother.
Kade: Two Quotes by Gandhi help me pursue my passions in life. "Be the change you wish to see in the world", challenges me to see a chance in the world and to embody that change and enable it breath life through my actions, but it also reminds me to stay true to what I believe is right, and to not make choices or decisions flippantly. Quote number 2: "Life as if you were to die tomorrow, learn as if you were to live forever." This is a challenge to open up and engage the world daily, but through the eyes that every interaction you have with the world, be it conversation, deep thought, challenges, setbacks, and/or renewal, prepare you to lear about a different and better tomorrow. Learning living augment each other and augment life.
