I am always fascinated with this time of year because the motivation levels of everyone are at an ultimate high. People so easily forget the goals they wish to achieve day in and day out that the New Year provides an easy gateway to reestablishing a goal once again. It becomes a tradition. We start a goal, hold on to it for a few days, weeks, maybe months but then we seem to forget about it or the all to popular phrase, "I just got busy." We are all guilty of it.
This blog has not been touched since last March. I know what it means to take on a goal and then just not do it anymore. We find reasons and excuses and these ideas which seemed so good at one point are now just another dream. It is easy for us to find ways to adapt these goals or make them easier because we want that satisfaction of completing it. In doing that our outcome can be shaped in one of two ways: 1) we achieve that goal and continue to just live our life changing our habits or forgetting about the work that we did to get there or 2) we continue to adapt the goal to the point in which it has no more value to why we even set out to achieve the goal in the first place. So where do we go from here?
Goals are an opportunity to help prove to ourselves what we did not think was achievable. We want to get in better shape, we want to travel, run a marathon, eat healthier, or pay off our student debt. ALL GREAT THINGS! So do it. Find something that is obtainable, something you can complete this year, and get out there. This blog is one of my goals I am sharing with you and it is my personal goal to be intentional with the audience I share this with- my friends and family. I hope the posts of this blog become a reminder to you on the goals you are achieving for yourself. Let these posts be a reflection of "Have I done what I need to do to better my life for me?"
I am not here to get likes. I am not here to gain publicity but instead I am utilizing what I have learned this last year and the great people in my life to provide moments of thought to the rest of you. My New Year's Goal is to share the gifts I have taken away from so many of you and spreading those thoughts, those ideas, those unique perspectives with the rest of the world. I lost sight of that as my work and my school took over and I am here, just like every other human being, taking on a goal that is a little more obtainable and a lot more enjoyable.
So here is what is going to happen. I am back and I am taking on new projects, with new people, and new ideas to share and to challenge myself on topics I had not yet thought about. If I can provide you, the reader, with an AH HA! moment or a thought to carry on your day then I have done my job. The Diversity of the Mind is back and 2015 is here. Feel free to check out my previous blogs if you have not and Let the Adventure Begin!
