Life is an amazing gift and it is the inspiration to why I started this blog. We often believe that life is defined by these major events that happen in our lives opposed to the daily routine we live day in and day out. One of my best friends reminded me of this a few weeks back and it has allowed me to reflect on what I want life to be. This weeks blog is more then just uncovering a new concept, idea, or perspective. It instead is reflecting on what this life has to offer and how even after this life is over, a new life begins. I am very blessed in that I knew five of my eight great-grandparents. Their stories and memories are the foundation to my positivity and optimism that surrounds my own life. Over the years, I continued to invest and learn about their lives and experiences because it allowed me the chance to reflect on the meaning of my own life. Last Friday, I lost my last great-grandparent Millie. For those who know me, she was an inspiration in my life. She was 100 years young and always had a smile on her face, content with each day she had been given, and loved everyone around her. I remember the last conversation I had with her. Millie and I talked about her love of crafting. She talked about the pillows she had made, the talent she had seen over the years, and the joy that it gave her. Millie loved to mow the lawn and work in her garden. Her purpose was seen by being outdoors and creating beauty from nothing. She will always be that individual in my life that reminds me that age is only a number. Our life should be about living it and reflecting on those day to day moments ensuring this is what we want our life to be. If not, the beauty is we have the chance to change it. Millie was a unique lady with a unique purpose in this life just like all of us. Our lives serve different purposes and it is with those talents we can come together to make something unique. Millie has taught me to not just dream it but achieve it and that is what I plan to do.
